Auntie Lori Allen is a writer and radio personality jiving and thriving in the great state of Central Illinois. Her comedy radio show, Lunchtime Laughs, can be heard online at Backland Radio (backlandradio.com). Lunchtime Laughs was heard on WWHP 98.3 FM “The Whip” for over 14 years until that station’s sale summer of 2014. During her tenure at WWHP, she wrote, produced, edited and performed in hundreds of radio ads that became the humorous brand of The Whip.
She has been a freelance writer since 1990, writing for such publications as The Best Contemporary Women’s Humor anthology, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce online magazine and the magazines Whispers from Heaven and Poor Katy’s Almanac. Also a one-hit wonder playwright, Auntie Lori’s play, “Genus Homo Sapeon,” is an ensemble musical comedy about the working class. The show premiered at the Charleston Alley Theatre in Charleston, Illinois and ran August 20-29, 1999. In the post-groovy 70s, she wrote and performed in many revues and shows produced by the Mattoon Area Performing Arts Society. Also in the 70s, she received an “A” in the acting class she took one semester at Lakeland College. It was a night class.
